Address From the N`Veen
by Dhakhaosek (Dennis Adams) (in-game)on Mon Jun 9 23:31:25 2008
It came as a great shock to everyone when Master Death rewarded Joseph's many years of dedication with a more closer way to serve him. Joseph's passing saddens us all, however he is still looking out for the settlement in a new way. I understand how all of you looked up to Joseph and have high expectations for me. I hope to live up to those expectations.
For the time being, I am an apprentice N`Veen, and have big shoes to fill. I am still learning the skills I need to serve Master Death. I know my abilities may be limited and I may not be able to help everyone but I will try my best. I ask for help, from anyone willing to give it, in protecting the graveyard and helping me with the tasks Master Death sets before me.
I am still fairly new to the settlement and have not gotten to know many of you as well as I would like. I understand that the settlement has a rich history, and I would enjoy hearing your stories and those of the ones who have given their lives for the settlement. Please come find me if you have something to share, if I'm not in the graveyard feel free to seek me out.
I appreciate your understanding in this uncomfortable transition.
Your Apprentice N`Veen Dhakhaosek

Dhak, a heavy burden's been put upon you, make no mistake. I just want you to know, that I will be there for you, as well as the rest of the crew. We are your family, we are your friends, and I think I speak for all goodly folk when I say we will gladly stand beside you, N'Veen

As I protected Joseph against harm, i shall also guard you Dhak. It is my duty and privilege to do so.

Dhak, ye've indeed been given a tough act t'follow. Joseph meant a great deal t'this town. But I've confidence that ye'll learn right quick.
Savin' only the path I have that must come first, ye know ye can always turn t'me for aid. It'll be a privilege t'help ye.

You will make a great N'veen. Ignore those who pressure you to fill Joseph's shoes. Joseph made a huge impact on the settlement, but you're Dhak, not Joseph. We need you to find your unique strengths and lend them to the cause of greater good.
While I can't offer physical protection, I will do my best to distract danger with colorful skirts and gypsy wiles.
Also, for all you newly sworn protectors, I promise not to spirit Dhak off into the woods for hours on end again. Private converations will now take place in public...losing some of their privacy, but making him easier to protect. If you lose track of him now, it will be because he wants or needs to disappear for a time.

Nay, lass, sometimes ye need your privacy for a discussion. Just tell us first! :)

I did not know know Joseph that for that long, as I was not around New Galen for much of his tenure as N'veen. But, from what I saw, the service he had done for Lord Death and your town is immeasurable and he will be sorely missed.
Thank you for stepping forward and taking this responsibility, Dhakhaosek. If you ever need anything at all, don't hesitate to ask.
-Xan

Having seen many N'Veen's come and go...infact I seem to recall stories of the first one...have I truely been around that long...I digress.
Dhak, yours is a responsibility that isn't taken lightly. You have, literally, the weight of the ages on your shoulders. I am pledged to Kell but if you are ever in need some a guardian while you are walking in the woods, you have but to ask.
We expect great things from you, should you need advise or an unbiased ear, you just need to ask.

As I read your message Dhak, I feel myself thinking inword of Joseph, for this if the first I've heard of his final passing. I felt much for him and as I make my way back to the settlement I will think of all the good he brought to the settlement and all that you can bring after him. I am sure my brother will be glad to meet you.

Delivered by Red Cap, a letter sent from Daggerport:
Greetings and Salutatations to all those on the frontier! I was saddened to learn that Joseph was no longer amongst the living. His master must have a better and more pressing need for his services. He was a great man and a class act, and I'm sure he will be sorely missed as well. As for me, I am enjoying life away from the perils of the frontier, though I must admit I miss spending time with many of you. I guess I should ask a few questions and hope for responses?
How goes your quest Ms. Kenna?
Has anyone seen Harry?
Has Rotas found a more suitable path, or is he still tangled in the webs of the fae?
Lastly,
How is my dear Synovea Rose?
Take care all and keep those blades sharp..
Kendall

Oh Kendall, the stories I have to share with you when our paths next cross. They are going to make your head spin. Things are well for me in the settlement - making new friends and trying to keep out of trouble (you'd be proud). I'm keeping those who offer their protection on their toes, so you could say it's pretty much the same as always.
Safe travels wherever you go, Synnovea Rose

Kendall,
It is very nice to hear you inquire about my dear half-sister Synnovea, though a bit strange. After all, if I remember correctly you promised her your protection and then disappeared off to Daggerport. Also, much as I appreciate the original offer, you never discussed with me your intentions surrounding my kin. Even Rawlin showed me some respect by first asking me for my blessing before pursuing her. To see such respect from him but nothing from a gentlemen like you frankly surprised me - as did your sudden disappearance. Perhaps if you return to the settlement we will be able to discuss this.
Kindest Regards,
Rotas

Sorry Rotas, You may have had potential to learn our ways with a blade, but your mindset was, shall we say...lacking...in being able to understand our code. If you chose a different path for yourself, you may have had answers to all your questions.
Kendal is following his vows and the Oath. That is all you need know.

What he means to say, Rotas, is that Kendall found another port to drop his anchor in. Make sure to tell your half-sister to watch out for barnacles if he ever comes back into town.

[The handwriting on this note appears to be rather strained and sloppy...as if the author was laughing too hard while writing it.]
Not to confirm or deny the questionable rashes upon the person of one Kendal Abra, but thats not what our vows are about at all.

...and if anyone would know about Kendall's rashes and whatnots it'd be Harry.
But back to the matter at hand. Apprentice N'veen Dhakhaosek, I too have been in and around this settlement for quite some time. I must confess my duties have kept me from meeting many of those new to the settlement in the past few moons, though I have been through several times. I endeavor to remedy this situation forthwith in the fall. Know well that the post of the N'veen is more important than most realize, even more so than many who have filled it for a time. The last N'veen did an admirable job, and left long strides for you to meet. But remember he was he and you are you. Do not confuse his path for yours due to the pursuit of the same vocation. Find your own path and do not cling to the preconceptions of others, in this alone will you find the true strength you will need to hone to succeed where so many have failed. Should you need assistance, simply ask of me. I will grant whatever possible, and assist in any way that I may.
By my hand, -Merrik Wolfgar

Greetin's, Kendall! I hope ye're keepin' well.
My quest is as it is. I've learned some things that I think'll help. I'm still determined t'do it, or t'die in the effort.
In th'meanwhile, there's come up a bit o'trouble over an ancestor o'mine, so that's distractin' me a bit. But I keep on.
Keep yourself safe, Kendall, and mayhap our paths'll cross again one day.
Best t'ye,
Kenna
